Walter Ewald Seaholm

(1897 – 1956)

Walter Ewald Seaholm was born on September 4, 1897 in Austin, Texas. He attended Austin public schools and the University of Texas. After serving in WW I in 1917 to 1918, he returned to college and worked on a Master’s degree in electrical engineering. He started working in the Electrical company of East Texas in Beaumont, followed by leading the Austin Electrical Company. In 1933 he was promoted to Director of Utilities for the City of Austin. In 1950 he was appointed as the Austin City Manager, the top executive post in the city government.

He was initiated on February 18, 1919, passed on March 15, 1919; and raised on April 19, 1919. After serving as Worshipful Master of Austin Lodge No. 12 he was appointed as DDGM in 1945. His masonic honors include the 32º KCCH in the Scottish Rite, and the Red Cross of Constantine in the York Rite. He served as the Potentate of the Ben Hur Shrine in 1938.

On December 22, 1956 he dropped dead while playing golf at the Country Club Golf Links.

Brother Seaholm is buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Austin, Texas.
