Henry Thomas

Henry Thomas affiliated with Austin Lodge No. 12 on October 14, 1856. He was a minister of the Christian Church.
He served more times as Worshipful Master of Austin Lodge No. 12 than anyone else in the history of the Lodge, during the contentious years of the US Civil War: 1861, 1862, 1863, 1866 and 1869. He served as DDGM in 1863, 1870 and 1872. He served on numerous Grand Lodge committees between 1861 and 1871.
On Sunday, February 4, 1866 the Lodge building burned down and the charter and all regalia and records were lost in the fire. The Lodge petitioned the former Austin Lodge No. 12 PM, and then GM Robert M. Elgin for a replacement charter.
Brother Thomas was a prominent masonic leader and so well respected that Henry Thomas Lodge No. 278 in Marble Falls was named in his honor.
Unfortunately no further personal information is available, not even his birth or death dates.
