Austin Lodge No. 12 Challenge Coin

The frontside of the coin shows the original undisputed boundaries for the republic of Texas, which are contained within the shape of the state of Texas, and finally within the aspiration and disputed territory of the Republic of Texas.

The Star represents Austin, capital of the Lone Star State, and the several indentations below and to the left of the star represent the prior capitals of the Republic of Texas.

The flag at the top of the state is the Burnet Battle flag, one of the first flags flown over the Republic of Texas.  Additional esoteric symbolism may be seen elsewhere.
